Committees & Task Forces

TONL Committees and Task Forces perform tasks all year long that are vital in the success of the organization. The committees meet on their own schedule and provide reports to the board of directors.

An organization is only as strong as the committees who make things happen in order to achieve success!

Willingness to Serve

If you are interested in becoming more involved and serving on one or more committees please complete the Willingness to Serve form.

  • A project specific team that is organized when an opportunity arises that requires the focused energy of a small group to address a short term need on behalf of TONL.
  • Periodic based upon current needs of TONL
  • Task Force positions are open to the membership
  • Less than one year commitment
  • Serves as an advisory committee in the planning of the Annual TONL Conference and TONL Webinars.
  • Reviews and updates the TONL educational priorities on an annual basis, and executes the educational plan.
  • Holds quarterly meetings (conference calls), at a minimum.
  • Chairperson shall be a member of the Board and be appointed by the TONL Executive Committee.
  • Committee positions are open to the membership.
  • One year position.
  • Provides input on initiatives that will increase TONL membership numbers and continue to provide value for members.
  • Makes recommendations on the retention and recruitment of members to the board and communicates with members to identify newly eligible members.
  • Reviews current membership distribution by districts and provide reports to the board and districts.
  • Holds bi-annual meetings (conference calls), at a minimum.
  • Chairperson shall be a member of the Board and be appointed by the TONL Executive Committee.
  • Committee positions are open to the membership.
  • One year position.
  • Serves as group to help formulate position statements which impact nursing, nursing leadership, and health issues in Texas.
  • Represent views and perspectives of TONL members.
  • Serves as initial contact advisors for the agency contracted to manage.
  • Consult/collaborate on legislation that affects nursing and healthcare.
  • Establishes a communication and advocacy model that includes TONL Chapter involvement and accountability.
  • Disseminates information concerning advocacy issues to general membership.
  • Serves as a resource to provide expert testimony at federal and state legislative and regulatory hearings.
  • Coordinates communication with legislators regarding TONL opinions/stands on select issues.
  • Collaborates with other professional nursing groups and health care entities in issues affecting nursing/health care.
  • Presents a written report on committee actions to give at annual meeting.
  • Makes recommendations and participate in all activities, charges from the Board, and compile and review reports.
  • Holds quarterly meetings (conference calls), at a minimum.
  • Chairperson and members shall be appointed by the TONL Executive Committee.
  • Committee positions are open to the membership.
  • One year position.
  • Provides guidance to the TONL President-Elect in the development of the TONL Strategic Plan.
  • Reviews the current strategic plan and determines if changes are needed in the strategies to meet the goals within the plan.
  • Collaborate with the Chairperson in developing the Strategic Plan and reviewing it semiannually.
  • Holds bi-annual meetings (conference calls), at a minimum.
  • Chairperson shall be the President-Elect.
  • Committee positions are open to the membership by appointment of the TONL Executive Committee.
  • One year position.
  • Provides guidance to the TONL staff on communication strategies to include newsletters, TONL website, and any other special mechanisms needed to update and inform TONL members as well as other affiliates.
  • Chairperson shall be a member of the Board appointed by the TONL Executive Committee.
  • Committee positions are open to membership.
  • One year position.

Special Committees - Special committee members may be appointed by the TONL Executive Committee for special projects or functions as authorized by the Board.
